Hainan’s duty-free goods are well received with consumers. Since this year, the sales of Hainan's offshore duty-free stores have reached over 15 billion Yuan, realizing a year-on-year growth.
In the first two months of this year, the total sales of Hainan's 10 off-shore duty-free shops amounted to 12.9 billion yuan, up 33% year-on-year. The number of duty-free purchased items achieved 12.6 million, rising by 53% year-on-year. In March, duty-free shopping in Hainan was greatly affected by the pandemic. From March 1st to the 23th, the sales of the 10 duty-free shops totaled 2.3 billion yuan, showing a year-on-year decline.
Since the beginning of this year, the duty-free shops have launched a series of consumption promotion activities while doing a good job in epidemic prevention and control. A number of international famous brands have launched their new products, opened new stores and held various preferential promotions. Relevant departments of Hainan province have also cooperated with duty-free operators to set up an off-shore duty-free zone on the "Haiyiban" platform to issue coupons to tourists from outside the island, which is well received by tourists. During this year's Spring Festival, the sales of Hainan's duty-free shops exceeded 2.1 billion yuan in seven days, up more than 150% year-on-year.
