Hainan's development zone signed investment memoranda worth $ 4 billion in January-July

HAIKOU, September 13. /TASS/. The administration of Jiangdong Xinqu Economic Development Zone (Jiangdong New District) near Meilan International Airport on Hainan in January-July signed a package of memoranda for attracting capital investments in the amount of 25.76 billion yuan (approximately $ 4 billion) with investors, the Hainan Daily reported.
 
 
According to the newspaper, in seven months, the Hainan industrial cluster has made significant progress, accelerating the formation of diversified international supply chains and ensuring the flow of funds to implement important industry projects. In particular, a good foundation was laid there for the development of the aviation industry.
 
 
As the leadership of the innovation site clarified, in January-July, 12 commercial organizations on the list of the 500 most competitive companies in the world were registered on the territory of the "new district", another 66 enterprises from this prestigious rating are negotiating with local authorities about the possibility of opening their offices and subsidiaries in "Jiangdong", as well as the transfer of head offices there. At the same time, construction is under way in this part of Hainan to house the headquarters of leading market players. The area of ​​the land lot transferred by the state to the commercial sector in August is about 25,900 square meters.
 
 
“Recently, two companies have settled there in the structure of the Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com, which stimulate the development of a modern service sector,” Jiangdong Xinqu commented on the ongoing changes. "This will promote the implementation of digital and news financial technologies, the creation of high quality consumer goods' industrial chains."
 
 
In August, the Haikou innovation zone signed agreements with Chinese resource company Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group and the French postal organization La Post, according to a statement  issued by this regulator. They are expected to play an important role in the energy and logistics sectors. At the same time, the Hainan administration is actively working to attract certified foreign partners — foreign enterprises that have the right to invest through yuan funds in Chinese private business in order to promote various projects.
 
 
In June 2018, the authorities announced the creation of an innovation zone near Meilan Airport (the administrative center of the province, the city of Haikou) — Jiangdong New District. An aviation industrial park is located on its territory, which is one of the strategically important objects contributing to the formation of an advanced global transport and logistics hub on the island.
